Studio

Working Outside

I work outside whenever possible, painting, sketching, taking photos and recording information with all of my senses. Years ago, I was trained as a naturalist; those skills come in handy as an artist.

Plein air painting on Fish Lake near Talkeetna, with Sienna & Pi, Sept. 2008.

Working Indoors

Working inside enables me to work in any kind of weather, and at any hour.

Working on a modified shibori technique by the warm wood stove, mid-winter.

Did I mention how small my studio is?
In spite of this, I am able to work on larger pieces.
My husband and I are both artists; we use our whole home for art-making.
The "dry" part of my studio and our shared cutting table.

My workspace is versatile, enabling me to set up just about anywhere.

My modified silk stretchers worked nicely in my mother-in-law's basement.

My homemade stretcher system fits perfectly in front of the
sunny, south-facing windows of my "wet" studio.
